Force Sensors


Force sensors are often used on bipeds to implement certain types of force control or ZMP feedback.

There are various types of force sensors, strain gauge types are the most common although optical strain gauge types and pressure pads offer exciting possibilities in terms of cost and accuracy.

6 axis (3 force axes & 3 torque axes) are the most useful although for purposes of ZMP feedback 3 axis sensors(vertical force , pitch& roll torques)  may be enough.
